she says in an interview;
"I think these bags are special and not something that you would see everyday, they catch attention and are really unique from your typical everyday handbag"
These special reticule bags are all handmade, all crafted with high quality materials and each reticule is made with true vintage fabrics.
Designer & ceo Keyliz says she takes about 20 hours just to complete a bag.
all these bags are limited edition which means once they're gone they're forever.
"I want these bags to be exclusive, rare and special to whoever buys one.
If we decide to make more in the future it will be different fabrics and a whole different design.
I'm excited to create this style of handbag in hopes of seeing others start to wear my designs and hopefully making it a trend to bring back the iconic reticule.”
So how did the first handbag really start?
The popular réticule was one of the first bags in history, they started as "drawstring bags" and then later went on to become a synonym for any kind of purse or handbag carried by a woman/male today.
These bags were made of lace, velvet or cotton. They were popular for their embroidery, tassels & beautiful beaded designs.
Women started wearing these bags at the end of the 18th century, the large layered gowns went out of style which means the smaller and thinner dresses became more popular and trendy. Women started carrying drawstring pouches so that it would function as an extra pocket. These bags were used mainly from 1795 to 1820.
Some items that women would carry in her bag:
- mirror
- brooch
- calling cards
- coins
- gloves
- handkerchief
- hairpins
- Patchbox
- Jewelry
- watch
- comb
